Dear friends,

GreatControversy.org, which in 2008 worked with Amazing Facts in providing the Spanish translation for Dennis Priebe’s book, Face-to-Face With the Real Gospel, has in preparation two most important booklets in Spanish. Consider the following excerpts. First, from the 1973 General Conference Annual Council Appeal. Here is the paragraph in English:

Each member of the Laodicean church needs more than a theoretical knowledge or even a proof-text knowledge of the Word; he needs a genuine and complete surrender of the life and will to the divine authority of the Bible and of the Spirit of Prophecy—a surrender that may well call for revolutionary changes in personal life-styles and in denominational policies and practices. Every member must recognize that he has a part in either hastening or delaying the coming of Christ. Says God’s servant: ‘When the character of Christ shall be perfectly reproduced in His people, then He will come to claim them as His own’ (Christ’s Object Lessons, p. 69).

Likewise, the 1974 Annual Council Appeal was equally powerful and needful. In English:

Furthermore, Christ-reflecting lives are essential to the gospel outreach. The more a church member becomes like Christ in character, the more gracious, winsome, and genuinely helpful he will be in his general soul-winning activities, especially in his relationships within his own home and neighborhood. When a generation of Seventh-day Adventists is truly serious about becoming exhibits of what God’s grace can do, the moment of final decision by the whole world for or against God will not be long delayed.

Both of these stirring appeals will be published in a booklet. Few Spanish language Seventh-day Adventists have heard these appeals from the General Conference. How important that they have them!

We are publishing another booklet reproducing the chapter from M. L. Andreasen’s The Sanctuary Service titled “The Final Generation.” Here is an English paragraph:

The final demonstration of what the gospel can do in and for humanity is still in the future. Christ showed the way. He took a human body, and in that body demonstrated the power of God. Men are to follow His example and prove that what God did in Christ, He can do in every human being who submits to Him. The world is awaiting this demonstration (Romans 8:19). When it has been accomplished, the end will come. God will have fulfilled His plan. He will have shown Himself true and Satan a liar. His government will stand vindicated.

There is a great need for these booklets in the Spanish language. American influence is everywhere in Latin America. From household goods, to appliances, from automobiles to restaurants, Hispanics seem to be saying “we want to be like America.” This is the case also in the church. Whatever the church is doing in North America, the Latin American churches are doing. Because of the almost inherent trust that some Hispanics have for Americans, many in the Hispanic community accept any book or teaching as accurate without hesitation or questioning. Therefore, it is crucial that materials be made available in Spanish that sustain the Adventist vision.

Many of our Hispanic brothers and sisters here in North America and in Latin America do not understand the errors in current circulation regarding the nature of Christ, the nature of Sin, the Final Atonement, worship styles, and the need for lifestyle and dress reform. Some haven’t even heard the words “Questions on Doctrine” before or of its impact upon Adventism. These little booklets will bring much needed information to our Hispanic brothers and sisters regarding the church’s historical and biblical stand on these issues. As these things are better understood, all our workers will be in a position to make a stronger contribution to the work of God in the last generation.

GreatControversy.org recognizes the important role that Spanish-speaking brothers and sisters of the faith have in God’s plan. This is one reason for our Spanish Language website, http://www.GranConflicto.org. And so, this appeal to you: In order to publish these booklets, we need to raise approximately $10,000. If the Lord leads you, we would be most appreciative of any donation toward this project that you can spare. As Hispanic influence in the church increases, it becomes more important than ever that brothers and sisters have available to themselves these very serious materials.

Donations can be made by sending a check or money order payable to GreatControversy.org to

Please mark the check “Spanish language booklets project.” May the Lord help us to prepare these materials speedily. We hope that we could go to press by May, but we must receive considerable donations by that time in order to achieve that.

At present (2009-01-02) we have received $916.40 for The Last Generation in Spanish, leaving a need for $4083.60. We still need to raise the $5000.00 needed for the 1973 and 1974 Appeals booklet. Thank you for considering this special project! GCO
